2021 Referendum

The final version of the Plan was submitted for Referendum on 6th May 2021.

There was an overwhelming vote of ‘Yes’ to the Durham City Neighbourhood Plan.

The results are as follows:

  • Yes: 85.6%
  • No: 9.8%
  • Rejected ballot papers: 4.6%

There was a 38.46% turnout.

Durham County Council’s website ‘Neighbourhood Planning – what’s happening?’ gives details of the stages of the Durham City Neighbourhood Plan.

People could vote in the Referendum if they lived in the Durham City Parish area, and:

    • were registered to vote in local council elections; and
    • were 18 years of age or over on 6 May 2021.
